Beng Beng - You can camp at Beng Beng , or stay in one of the homestays in front of ebay wich is 10 minutes beach walk. No shops , take all your food , or fish ....

Ah nevermind - Bingtangs was the Righthander i was thinking of...Bingtangs and Beng Bengs were the 2 most epic treats of the trip. Can you get these in the states? i smuggled a few candy bars home but they are now gone.

feral dreams come true. - thanks to myself asking the sort of questions you get angry about, i managed to find a way to stay in nyang nyang and surf beng bengs, pits stops, ebay and nipussy.

All within walking distance of my tent and the whole trip cost me around $500 , aud for 25 days.including ferries and boats.

How about you take a valium and get yourself a clue, loser.

feral dreams - Anyone who says Beng-bengs breaks for 100m is out of their mind. That wave is maximum 20m long. You can do about two turns on it. To the guy trying to stay on land at Beng-Bengs and catch fish you have no idea what you are undertaking. There are no fish to catch anyway. The only way to really score the mentawais is on a boat with someone who knows what they are doing. You could go on a local fishing boat but you are taking your life in your own hands because those boats are super dangerous. Save up a little cash and spend $1500 on a boat like Nusa Dewata and you'll get better waves in 10 days than you would in 3 months of staying at Beng-Bengs. Then you could go back in and rent a fishing boat and play surf guide on your own personal charter boat. Or better yet, don't come at all.

Where abouts is this spot? - Where abouts and what island or other breaks is Beng Beng near?
I would like to stay here and try out a few boards ive been messing around with.
Would like to do it feral style, preferabley solo-> live in a hut and eat rice, catch fish kinda thing. Is this possible near here?
It doesnt matter if the place isnt near other breaks, but if it is near somewhere a more hollow left it would be perfect for my trip.
Cheers.

A small, well-shaped wave - Beng Beng (not Bang Bang) is a well-shaped left that breaks from about 2-5 feet (3 to 8+ faces). Above this it pushes too wide of the reef and gets fat. It breaks for about 100m, with the odd barrel, usually towards the end. It's a very good shape, with a nice green wall, it just doens't handle much size, and is better on the low tide. I wouldn't give it 4 stars, just 3. It's also a bit of a swell magnet.

cheap trip? - that's what happens when you go on a cheap boat without a surfer running it. You get what you pay for.

beng beng delight - I think that it is fantastic that I spent thousands of dollars to surf 3ft beng beng with 15 australian rugby players or punters as they are affecionately known as in aussie talk. cant wait to get back. slater and co at rifles must be an illusion or some kind of special effects masterpiece
