Kugenuma Update - Depending on the swell, this spot can be alot of fun with some long rides (for Japan). Taiphoon and South swells are best. Beach season (July-August brings unbelievable crowds of beginners, making it difficult to ride. Using common courtesy and respecting others safety, I have never felt anything buy welcome. Great views of Mt. Fuji from the water on days when the clouds part in that direction. Nice spot for longboarding. Rentals available all along the beach for about 3000 yen. Easy access by train from Tokyo.
