to surf this spot well you need to know how to take a beating. ive seen is 6 foot and breaking in 2 inches of water right onto the beach. but on other days it can break out a bit further. at least far enough to get a desent ride.
Atmosphere
its a bit scary at times. like when you feel something big swiming underneath you or when you tryin to drop into an over vert face and land on dry sand.

cyclone 6 footers - iv lived at emu park for about 4 years and have seen it on its ups and downs,, but or anyone who thinks this place is shit, u just have to give it some time. during cyclone hamish at the start of the year, i surfed shellys beach for about 3 hours and saw atleast 15 waves that were 6ft+ and barreling,, so take my advice and give it some time.

fisherboy joe - slow down there joe..seriously if your that upset about my disclosure of what is merely common knowledge then you should maybe think about moving somewhere with proper waves like i did many years ago..And although gordon and smit will appreciate the free advertisment i have no use for such a craft..you see i have 2 point breaks a reef break and a pretty sick beachie all within walking distance of my house..and im sure on many of my trips overseas the old GNS just wouldnt of cut it out at salani in samoa or lagundri bay nias ect unfortunately..Any true surfer who lives on the cap coast only has to look at few bathometric maps to work out where the best surf is..anyway im going surfing joe..if your still living there i doubt you will be
