- Sharks
There are heaps of waves on the island, there are also heaps of big sharks. If you stand on one of the headlands you will just about always see some. In days gone by a mate would sit on the headland with a rifle to try and shoot at sharks if they got too close.
Atmosphere
Probibly the last uncrowded fronteer. If you are in the water you are glad to see some one else. There are two main right hand points-Indian Head and Waddy point. Both classic rights plus unknown numbers of other breaks.
General
4wd only.no roads, drive on the beach. Heaps of tourists but very few people in the water. Fishermans heaven- catching big fish bitten in half is common. 200 miles of beach. 150 miles north of the Sunny Coast and gets a lot of swell.

Sharks - I wonder how good the sharp repelent devices are. Seems a pity to leave all the surf to the sharks

- I surfed there a bit as a kid and got some good waves but these days I don't even bother to take my boards. Be careful fishing of Indian Head, there's a plaque there that bares my uncle and his mate's name. They never found the bodies

party tricks - a good giggle when having a cold one or two around the camp fire....wait till the first one of ya mates, switches off and starts sleeping in the sand. step 2..grab any left over barby meat, preferabbly sousages for photo value. step 3....place the food on passed out persons crotch...step 4...wait for the dingos to hone in on the free meat served on your mates crotch. step 5...snap some kodak moment fotos to show him later on...step 6...try to explain why you used his groin as a baiting point for feral wild dogs for the sake of a foto....priceless drunken humour.
