- I went here on Boxing Day, only after not being able to find a parking spot up at the national park. At 7:30 in the morning, there were clean, peeling 4ft waves with only 3 people in the line-up. I got many good rides that morning with little to no competition up until about 9am when about 50 or so people showed up. This spot doesn't usually get big, with most days being about 1-2ft; the big swell was attributed to ex-tropical cyclone Fina up in north QLD. Some locals told me it was about 5-6ft there on Christmas Day, which is pretty big for this break.
This is widely known as a learner's spot, being fairly gentle and easy to paddle for the most part, surf schools set up along this beach to do lessons. The groyne is also a favourite for long boarders.
