This is one of the premiere regions in the world for surfing. Ranging from big wave locations to small wave fun. There are plenty of strong reef breaks and hearty sandbanks to wet ones appetite.
Seasonal swell & wind variations:
During the summer months the swell direction is mainly from the South to South West. However, in the winter months the swell comes from a more westerly direction, sometimes even northwest. Remeber this is the southern Hemisphere. On any wind, bar directly north, and with a good swell there are waves to be had somewhere!

Surf spots and water temp in May - Off on an older guy surf trip from So. Cal. to Margaret River in May, 2008. Where can I find some shoulder high, good form rights and lefts (for short boarder). Willing to drive down to the south coast. Also, what kind of water temp am I looking at? In addition, any suggestions on where to pick up a good used short board? Thanks. Jerry
