If this is the spot.. I think this is accessed by walking down a hill beside a small general store. The break is visible from the road and is a left point / reef with sections. We only surfed it small, however it handled the trades better than the harbour and areas around the airport. The eastern areas of AS have better set ups. Fa'afetai - I looked at this spot while visiting Tutuilla a couple years ago. There wasn't too much swell while I was there so I never paddled out here but it looked nice. I didn't go down to the water but looked from the road.

- alofau is just like pipeline, very hollow, very fast, and long, papua is as good as any wave in the world,a perfect right hollow right, both are on opposite sides of the island. Please ask before you surf.

Gas Stations is no Pipeline! - It's not a store. It's just some people living at what used to be a store/gas station (hence the name alternate Gas Stations) at the top of the hill above Fagaitua Bay. It's a bit of a hell hike down a steep hillside, pushing through a trail overgrown with vegetation as hardly anyone ever goes down that way. You can also paddle out from Fagiutua Bay. A bit of a paddle but may be preferable to hiking up and down the trail. Just ask someone in the village where it's OK to park. You do not have to get permission to surf this wave, only for parking! Anyway this wave is a good bet when it is just too big and out of control on the reefs exposed to open ocean energy as the swell has to wrap around the point and this 'straightens' it out as well as knocking it down to a manageable size. But this also means that when the swell is small (under 2m) Alofau just does not work. It is protected somewhat from the east-southeast Trades, but not entirely. Also beware as it is very shallow on the inside section. It is most definitely not Pipeline but is a hollow and exciting wave.
