The beach is located on the east coast of the country on Sucre state. You can fly directly to Cumana airport or drive to the city of Cumana. From there, head to Carupano city which is on the northern coast (there are also a couple of great surfing beaches there, but the water is muddy color since there is a river mouth there). From Carupano it's about a 1 1/2 hour drive east past another great beach - San Juan de las Galdonas - until you'll see a magic like spot.

Additional Information
There is a very small fishermen population, which were very nice to us when we were there. They would come and greet us, and the one time they brought some fruit. Be gentle and respectful with them, aand you'll have a worriless time.

Atmosphere
It is a long, long beach with about 13-15 surfing spots. Some days it can be low (3-4 feet), but sometimes it can get monstruous (15-18 feet). The water is cristal clear and is 100% sandy bottom. The only thing that scared me was my own shadow on my board which I thought it was a shark... ;)

General
This is probably Venezuela's best surfing beach. The great thing about it is that is f***ing far away from most big cities and it's rarely crowded. Last time I went I was with my friends and we were the only ones there for the whole weekend. It was dreamlike. To give you an idea, I brought a tent, sleeping bag etc... I ended up sleeping everynight on a lawn chair with just a blanket. Check it out!
