Cover yourself in neoprene and prepare yourself for some hollow crystal clear barrels of epic proportion!!Critical take off zone and heavy locals the only factors - i.e. no kooks !!
Atmosphere
Can ger very crowded when its epic and on the weekends, breaks on the low tide only on a small to medium swell.The water is freezingggg!!!Only breaks when there are banks, generaly only in summer when the SE howls and deposits sand.Breathtaking views of the mountain in front of you.Will break balls and boards if you dont know how to surf well.Experts only!

that beach has become sharky - yap, bodyboarder was eaten there 18 months ago, an english dude was nibbled by a small 4m great white last week at dunes.

Overrated - Hoek poep ... this wave is crappy , stinky and just plain dull . The bank is either a closeout or there's just no sand in the Bay at all . Stupid competitions held in the horrible closeouts nearly every weekend , as tossers sun themselves behind their little hidey peepey holes . Double crap before midday and bloody windy in the arvo . Get some real waves girlie boys . It's a weak pathetic excuse . Cemetery and 9 miles has the goods and the Strand kicks arse !

that good ? - Ive seen loads of pics of the hoeks perfect looking barrels and i've surfed most spots along the south african coast but not yet this place. is this wave really as good as the pictures ??
