Additional Information
Indonesian wave finder makes it sound as if this place is a surf paradise. hardly. the wave (The point) is a good makeable wave that i sould see could get really fun given some overhead conditions. the other waves 5-0, race-track, and bang bangs. so called 3 waves, to me seemed like 3 hollow unmakeable closeouts to one wave, even at high tide, mid to low forget it.

Atmosphere
although you will most likely be surfing by yourself, it is hardly worth the 300,000 rupiah a night that he charges. it is a sub par loseman set-up with out door bathroom, and the food quality and quantity is fair at best. dont get me wrong i dont need a palace, it just was not even close to being worth the money he charges. It should be maybee 50-70,000 a day at most. i must say mr.david himself is really nice and will treat you great, and has some great storys about all his time in Sumba.

General
just not worth the money and time and effort to get there to pay 300,000 a night and the waves are just O.K. and the food and set up would be o.k. if it were priced right. go some where else if you are looking to go off the beaten path.

Very average waves - I agree with the comments above. The waves here are pretty average by Indo standards. NOT something you would travel for. Its a beautiful spot, its just the waves arent that good.
I was the only surfer there in June and surfed the point ('the office') at 2-5 feet and you'd be very lucky to get a barrel out there. It's got a fat wall that ends in a big floater with the inside beachbreak, after about 100m max. It isn't a 'very long' wave, as the Wavefinder guide book says, maybe 3-4 turns, a big end floater after 80-100m, and that's it. It's soft, and a mal wave really. Needs low tides and a fair amount of swell as well just to get enough push to ride, from 2-4+ feet, above this size and just when it starts getting more powerful and interesting it unfortunately starts to close out across the channel (by 1.5-2 times overhead its a closeout), and less than ~2-3 feet it's so soft you can't even get into the wave.
The other waves were closeouts when I was there, maybe makeable on rarer south swells and higher tides. I couldn't even find the 'racetrack' (looks like straight reef-maybe on more south swells only), and 5-0 is way off in the distance and seems to need a big swell and higher tides on the edge of a very shallow reef for some shoulder hopping.
Erics is a big wave left bommie out the back that might be the best wave but it needs a big swell, I saw it start to fire at about 5-6 feet and go through to the inside reef, but it doesnt link up with the main point further down, and there looks like a nasty straight reef inside section (about 1 feet deep)-you wouldn't want to get caught inside here on a big day.
There is a beach break right on the inside of the 'the office' at the very end of the reef, but it is also very average, and closes out across the channel above about 4+ feet.
Also, currents here change strongly with tides and can vary from nothing to having about 20 seconds to get a wave before you are swept off 500m down the bay, in an area that gets very long lulls anyway-so guess how many waves you will get during strong currents?-probably none.
You might have low/no crowds here to surf a few ok waves, but for a reason-Kellala certainly isn't your classic Indo wave location.
