other spots nearby - there are other spots nearby and up the coast to surf without the crowds. About 2 1/2 hours drive up the coast is a good right-hander that is bigger and better ( more power ) than the waves in San Juan. The town is called Cabugao, brgy Sabang. There is an American who married a pinay and they run a small resort there right on the break. there are spots nearby and you can surf some nearby islands too for like 800 pesos. you will catch the place to yourself so it's definatley worth the trip up the coast. there are spots you can check along the way. Oct. thru March is the best time for that coast. hope this helps your surf trip.

San Juan Surf Resort - Despite what the comments say above you can get a bus straight through San Fernando (not a bad idea) and will drop you at Se Bay in San Juan.
Straight across the road is the San Juan Surf Resort..nice place but crawling with thieves..dont leave ANYTHING unguarded.. this includes hanging a towel outside your room..it will be stolen.. the management assured me of this..'its happened to me too' the manager laughed as he told me.... 'preaching to the converted man' I said as my towel AND board shorts had just walked.. in broad daylight...
Just to let you know. Better places to stay in SJ. Good surf. Good big waves on the point, can be a little crowded though.
