Additional Information
The southern end of the beach has a small fishing village and is protected from the swells, on the big surf days (over 3 metres) some nice smaller waves appear here. Towards the northern end the waves get bigger. The northern end of the beach is exposed to the winds and the shifting sand banks make the waves unpredictable, but on its day the surf can be perfect.

??? - Dude, copy & paste or not, whoever wrote this ain't never been near this beach. I lived there 7 years, and i managed to get maybe 3 decent surf sessions in my entire time there. The length is only like 50 odd meters on a good day, and you'll be lucky to find a wave much bigger than 3ft. If you want to surf in thailand, surin bay (the next over from bangtao)goes off alright on a good day. Things could be different now though, cos i haven't been back to phuket since before the tsunami. For the best surf in asia, hit Java man. G-LAND IS DOPE!
