Atmosphere
One of the funniest thing about surfing here is watching people trying to rock off particularly on big days, if you are not local and not !))% sure of where to rock off take my advice and paddle from the boat ramp. it will save you a lot of pain and a lot of embarrassment.
General
Great place to surf, be sure of your skill though. very long wave as well, has been known to break up to 900m!

terrigal - best to go at low tide, so you are sure of where the rocks are, if you go at high, u might find yourself knocked out by a submerged rock. best to get some experience there before going out on big days so you can get a feel of where to take off. But make sure on big days you stay out of locals' way- they can get nasty

locals - kook got bashed?
i dont surf haven often but i was out the other day and i paddled next to a mean lookin local, i pulled in to hard and dropped in. I fully cut him off and he got rolled near the rocks, i expected him to bash or atleast abuse me and all i got was a grimace after i apologised. all the same i did paddle in incase he got his mates on me.
moral of the story is, the locals are mean but not that bad, just keep right out of their way and if you get on the wrong side just paddle in quick.
