- Rocks
Even if it is smaller, try to catch them from right out on the point as most of the time they will follow through to the larger break towards the mouth of the creek and you will have right of way all the way in which is accepted at Crescent.
Atmosphere
Don't bean idiot and go during school holidays. When I visited in the school term I had 300 metre 2ft clean right handers all to myself, and in the holidays there are about 40 grommetts attacking anything that breaks. If theres no surf at the point, don't go straight to Back Beach, check further down Killick Beach first with some binoculars and you will find something alot closer.
General
Crescent is losing its long perfect waves with the sand being dredged up from right on the point to 30 metres north in a storm earlier this year preventing any really long waves, but it is still, in my opinion, the best spot (for longboarders) on the mid north coast.

Worst Surf Ever - Crescent head is not even worthy of the name "pointbreak" I would call it a mushbreak - it only ever breaks when there is a ginormous North Easterly swell, and the locals always bash people. There are four or five aboriginal blokes constantly robbing the cars of out-of-towners while they surf. Fucking awful place - ive been four times and been in three fights and not once dropped in on anyone. Don't even consider it, especially if you are from overseas.
