Jewels isnt secret & its neither world class, in fact its rather fickle with a sharky reputation, also there are currents which make paddling a chore to stay on the peaks. usually, its a weekend 4wd mission to find the right break from redhead to belmont/blacksmiths. lovely spot, few idiots though on bikes & quads & ive seen a few accidents there. the entrance is hidden by bushland but is becoming more exposed these days. Well Jewels can get very big and heavy so you have to watch out for freak sets. You can only take a 4wd there. In fact, jewels isnt so bad, its the currents which are a pain, although, its a great spot to visit or check out.
Atmosphere
What i really love is when we are walking over there and get to the lookout and it is going off. ilove it because it is only our mates over there no angry mal riders just us lids and surfers.
General
I think Jewels is like any other break in newcastle. rather average, a bit sharky, a bit fickle, few ppl surfing it, currents are a pain to stay on the peaks, lovely place to travel to. beware mad bike & quad riders.

what a hoax - Photo dated 2005-04-14 isn't anywhere in Aus., or anywhere in the southern hemi for that matter. Its a reef break in So.Cal. (northern S.Diego county). It's called big rock. Only breaks with big winter swells and is super, super crowded.But, who cares anyway.
