Drive past north palm beach surf club, all the way to the end of the car park, and then walk down a walkway and walk 500m till barrenjoey headland. The banks at this spot sometimes fire on a big swell elsewhere. When you get to Palm beach park next to the ablutions. the spot itself normally breaks somewhere off the 2 large balck rocks toward the back of the beach. (Anywhere from 100m north of these to 100m south of these before you get to kiddies corner). surf with a partner or group because help is not close to the break.
surf when the wind is under 10 knotts.
Great longboard spot when it's small, but over 3ft turns on great shortboard waves with a bit of grunt and power.
Atmosphere
General
It's a great spot and usually uncrowded and it is common to surf for hours in good surf with no-one out.

no bloody idea you old mence!!!! - to the senior kook surfing at barrenjoey, late anzac morning.perhaps in your advanced age you hearing isn't so good and thats why inspite of repeated calls you dropped in on me. maybe its your prerogative as a near-pensioner to deny that you were in any way to blame. it is also quite possible that it was your failing eye sight that led you to say that a severely torn earlobe (courtesy of the tip of your board) was a "little scratch" before you paddled off without further concern.whatever excuses you may have, i just want to say thank you for the 3 hours wasted at mona vale hospital, the 4 stitches in my ear and the prospect of 2 weeks out of action. karma will catch up with you buddy
