Surf at northwall is regular and it needs to be blowing about 25/30 knots+ from the se and wait 12 to 24 hrs for development of good swell.
When it does it there are good waves on on the incoming tide 30 mins after top and minor flow changes can cause little barrels on the inside to develop and better size can be found by moving 150mts up the beach. Ground swell will occur after a good blow on early mornings provided wind strength is occuring overnite. Cyclone swell is the most awaited event as all surf spots in Mackay fire.
Atmosphere
Makes a good change from other southern crowded spots

Back in the day. - North Wall can be a great wave on its day,but for the most part it's just a bit sloppy and gutless. However I remember getting little barrels here on the odd occasion during the bigger swells.... Wait whats that? I think I can here Big Wave Barry who grew up in Fuckheadville somewhere down south, and moved up to Mackay to work in the mines, saying something about there being no surf in Mackay and anyone who lives north of Noosa can't surf. He's the fat dude who stand up near car park and mocks all the locals who are paddling out on a 2 foot day.
