It's closer to Streaky on the Smoothpools road. works best in a big swell. Handling SE-E winds Granites has different moods according to the size of the swell. Section and fat Granites is a good fun left that has plenty of variation. This spot can be crowded with Streaky locals and campers.
Atmosphere
If you manage to hook up with an old local bloke called Wayne he lives in a bus and has a load of bizzar animals living with him cammels, goats etc etc... mention Bristol and cozz from u.k. he may remember us and taking us to a spot near granites called tractors, where er both paddled out alone with wayne watching from his truck with a pair of binoculars, a couple of waves later and wayne is waving and shouting "get out get out!" he'd seen a massive dorsel fin about 200metres away from us, turned out a diver had been nearly attacked that day too...

Granites - Surfed here just after xmas 2011 at about 3 ft, being an older but newcomer to surfing it was the best wave i have riden to date, does not seem to work under 3 ft and dodgey take off but if u make it rewarded with a super left. If u have a forign accent watch out for Wayne as he will think u are rich and try to sell u some land.

Locals under the water! - We surfed Granites a couple of months ago and got some resonably good waves. Like the locals say it has its days. You can get there on a good swell and think it all gona be set up but then find its breakin weird. We surfed it with only 10 others and did a lot of driving around to other spots even right up to Ceduna. Its a pretty rugged coastline but for me too much driving and too sharky.

yeehaa - Yeah smooth pool lefts- bit fat but surf it by yourself. Harder to line up than it looks as you pull up to the top of the hill. Spooky alright but so is anywhere round here with no one else out. Lots of nooks and crannies but most stay to granites. Good fishing and abs too, if wacko wayne hasn't poached 'em all.
