As a bay wave this spot is wind generated. It only works with a 35k/h + SW wind. I have been out with 50km/h winds providing a 3-4foot swell. This spot is a special one due to its deeper water compared to other bay beaches which gives the waves a chance to wall up and break better. It is also special as it only works when the conditions are perfect and requires a lot of duck diving and paddling as the water moves fast. Parking is best at the Lifesaving club as the spot is directly in front and public cold showers are provided.

General
It’s a pretty decent spot for a bay wave, never anyone out except surf lifesavers. And REMEMBER!! (This s a bay wave not snapper rocks!!) It’s not meant to be amazing.

Frequency of 1st reef - I've been bodyboarding Pt Leo for about 5-6 years in that time i've been there about 100 times when theres been a good swell. Five of those times 1st reef was working, the rest of the time it was just average 1-2f slow crumbs. I must say though when it was working it was 4-5ft offshore fast barrels but i wouldn't wait for that you will grow old waiting for a occasion like that.
