Walk from the carpark 15 minutes along the beach to the rivermouth or if you have a 4X4 you could drive it although the sand gets pretty soft. Take the rip out, its easier than battling though the breaking waves
Atmosphere
If the banks are good this place can really turn it on with fun little peaks all the way down the beach. Head to the rivermouth for the pick of the bunch

pugs ur a dirty local fisherman - oi bois this rookie pugs as no idea, claimin dat mutton bird island has no potential to be bombus is the most illed kall eva, i represent tha bois who appreciate muttonjies on a respectable day. pugs clean up ur act coz ur a disgrace wit a capital'D' atm. roll wit my bois tha fyb and ull repect this tight secrety like a real ryder.

woweee - he russ um yeh the tension crew do love the island break. i saw em out there a few weeks ago and i was talking to them and they said that expect to see some epic mousies sessions on tension 9. He also said moffat is coming back to live in WA and will return to star surf

Good surf spot - Muttonbird is a good surf spot when the swell is big. 4*4 or walk around to the creek inlet to the break called floodgates, this is good if near the island is not so good. For the body boarders if there is a really large southerly swell check out the right of the island. Be carefull is a sloped rock and sharp, can get huge barrels. The break off the island is more inconsistent than the beach break as it needs good wind + swell.
