This is in fact a quasi shore break. The wave holds big swell. It's full off frendly locals good to surf when the nearest reef breacks are unsurfable.
Atmosphere
When everything is closed out : you can surf here. That's the major interest of this wave.I arrive Tahtiti in a meedle of a storm with 4 meters swell coming in, but unsurfable (not the rigth wind) it was grey and rainning sometimes. I was at the Meridien, sapinus was my first contact with the frindly locals

many places - the sapinus beach is a good place for surf when swell is too big for a reef session, at the point on the left there's a right crowd with young kids on bodyboards ( place for beginners), then in front of the cimetery before the stones some good waves, often openat the right of the wall and stones in front of the soccer ground, the biggest place but rarely open, big close barrels often, the best time is in the morning, taste it in bodyboard, really funnyl'embouchure at the right of the river, the most crowded place, but also the best, a long hollow left, and a very hard right with a stone showing is head in front of you when take off, be careful....jeremy@atahiti.com, if you need some info to a surf trip in french polynesia

Frans182 - Sapinus Beach Break is called by locals " l'embouchure".It's a very good beach break, where i learnt to surf. But This waves can changes with the seasons. In fact the river ( la punaaru) near the spot can change the conditions. Sometimes it'll be pefect ( and BIG) and sometimes it'll bad. But it's very often a very cool wave !

christmas gift - Santa didn't forget me, I had a 2/2.5m session that day with a friend, big north/west swell, everybody at papenoo and me and my friend, alone in the water with a man suffering an hangover.....Beautiful, with a pull in close section at the end, in front of rocks....So nice at 35°c outside.....
