it only works on about 80km onshore winds or get really clean and closes out but the sweel in the hauraki needs to be ova 4 meters for it to work on a clean day

gets good, underated rippers, dont go if its clean hit the reefs

has good groms there after school or on the weekends look out for the odd snake on those fucking surf club boards in the summer and watch the odd floating shit after a storm

I am shakin in my sandals! - You'll drop in on us? Hey dude. Its mairangi. There is no drop. If you "surf" it everyday, you must be a very accomplished paddler! come to the west coast for some surf lessons!

Locals Only - This is my local so don't come surf it only when its maxing out at 3ft! I surf this place every day, so ill drop in on all you west coasters. Shorey for life.

stormy - just came in from a mairangi stormy,shoulder height, high outgoing but better than last nite.have been surfing the stormys since 84 and there used to be banks but since the gulf has filled up with silt its hopeless,and the storms arent 3 or 4 days of waves like the 80s and early 90s. Early december 1985,a vicous east nor east stormy,5 to 6 on the beach,maybe more,mission to get out,wind turns sw over nite, that morning 3 to 5,perfect stacked lines,and,believe it or not,some peaks out from the surf club and rivermouth.never seen it like that since.nov 1990 came close,longy point would have been on fire.poison idea.
