- Rocks
paddle 5-600m to get to the break (fortunately not through breaking waves!)
take care - there are 3 rocks in the lneup that you need to watch out for, but its pretty obvious where they are
breaks best in a bigger swell on low tide - on smaller swells, especially if the tides in, it gets very close to the rocks
watch out for the ravenous swarm of sandflies that live on the Island and feast on surfers....
Atmosphere
Spooky - a long, long way offshore, grunty waves when the swells up, unpredictable bottom shape
Great wave when its working, but you'd need to surf it a lot to really get it figured out - not exacly user-friendly!
General
Challenging + fun

Me in photo one - I reckon that me in Photo one. It showed up shortly after I was surfing out there on a big swell and a nasty offshore by myself (and a long charging booger). And I'm a goof so there is the extra proof. If someone else knows better then set the record straight and I'll keep my trap shut.I've ridden the island heaps and it is one of my fave wellington waves. That end section... you never know if its going to just go dry. I have fallen here straight onto dry rock off my board and boy it hurt.Anyone game for the paddle go surf it, respect the island and the life on it.

Bodyboarder from Fitzroy - When out with my brother inlaw TC October 2005. He had the place wired - mind you he lived there. Can still picture you bro being the man in the lineup. Respect bro.
