Warning To all - the weekend of the 6th/7th of may 2006 was EPIC. A huge swell from the deep Tazzie sent great waves to rags (almost every wave that hit the ledge at muzza had a big makable barrel. Sunday was the day... early mornin on dark me and a few other dawn crew surfed outsides 6ft with bigger bombs comin thru from outsides and almost connecting thru to whale bay I caught about 6 waves in 2 hours due to being serverlly undergunned on a 6'2 . later that afternoon after seeing 3 jet skis burn round the point to spot X /colosseums--whatever you wanna call it and 1 hour later the Westpac trust helecopter landed on the point at indies. I asked around and apparently some dude was tow'n into a wave (which would of being enormuos) (bad spelling I know!) didnt quite make a section and was rolled into the rocks. I'm not too sure weather he hurt himself badly or the tide just wouldnt let him out but he had to be saved.. definitely a sketchy ISOLATED spot.

Why - Why submit a photo that shows Whale Bay and Indies when you are supposedly talking about Colosseums, which is a myth for a start!

Long Boarders - Dunno bout that comment about not long-boarding... like the dude below said, there used to be 2 dudes - brothers I think - that ripped outsides on longboards, in pretty testing conditions.
Most people these days call Colloseums the break you can see right on the far corner cliff, about 2 kms round the coast from Outsides.
Outside Indicators itself is just the area around the top of the point above Indies, just walk past Indies up the rocks till you can't walk further, paddle out there, and then head up & around another couple hundred metres.
It's a much different ride to Indies - much more raw & savage, but tends to section out a bit if there's too much straight W in the swell.
On a good SW swell though, it wraps like a bitch & you get rides down to about the mid point of Indies - where it pretty much sections off every time.
Surfing it on a 6ft + day, early in the pre-dawn, is eerie as fuck - you can hear the boulders cracking around under the water.
Fun wave, but if you ask me, the absolute best spot of the Rags offering is the very last section of inside Indies - just before it spits you through into the Valley. Fast, sucky, and so fun!
