- Rips / undertow
- Sharks
Since this is a river mouth, and the Waimak river contains alot of salmon during summer, the entrance to the mouth does occasionaly harbour sharks. The water is always cold from the river, and watch out for the rips that occur here. Take plenty of rubber.
Atmosphere
The atmosphere at this spot can be very shady sometimes, especially when the water is a dark brown. However, when surfing the epic right handers that pound through on a good south swell with your mate, you tend to forget about everything else.
General
This spot is quite fickle, but when all the elements do come together, you are well rewarded.

Wrongly situated - I posted this spot, and cocked up..I meant to put it in NE not SE, this spot is a river mouth north of christchurch, so ignore the fact that it´s here. I did advise wannasurf, but they still haven´t changed it yet.

Rob Neumayr - Good old Waimak- whitebait and waves- what more can a man want. Filth when it lines up, wind can be a pain in the ass, as can the shit getting pumped down the river- still- fond memories of the place... hi Clint Ford.
