When it works it kicks ass!!! - Just wait for a big lo to pound the coast for about 3 days... wake up really early next morning and head to the spot. CLASSIC but doesn´t last long. Locals are really friendly. I showed up and had no problems borrowing a board... few other spots around, searching is half the fun! Pura Vida!

South Coast - Was in Cuba on holiday back in Oct 2005. Scored overhead surf at la Setenta. All locals were cool as. Easy going, no problems. Would go back tomorrow. I know the south coast near Cienfuegos gets bad ass surf as well. I was there just after a hurricane in the southern caribbean near Nicaragua but arrived a day too late (dammit). Cuba is not an easy country to travel in, and I've surfed in 18 countries so am pretty well seasoned. two currencies make it interesting, but since I am also fluent in spanish this made my life exponentially easier. If ya keen on info, send me an email.

no wetsuit needed here - FYI, the surfer in the picts is a Cuban friend of mine. I let him have the wetsuit, and he wore it just to be 'cool'. No, you don't need a wetsuit when these shots were taken (April). I'm told that if Triton is breaking, it's usually three foot bigger further down the coast in Holguin.
