Awesome!! - The best wave on the island is a rivermouth just outside of Roseau called Layou. The conditions have to be just right for it to break, consequently once - twice a year is exceptionally lucky, but when you catch it just right, the wave is an a-frame barrel that seems to come out of nowhere due to the deeper water on the outside. Like I said, it is rare but well worth the trek if you happen to catch it. The most consistent wave on the island is a break on the northeast end of the island called L'anse Tortue (pronounced Las Tor-tee). It is a secluded cove with a reef break on the left hand side of a natural channel and a sand bottom beach break that peels off the outcropping cliffs on the right hand side of the channel. The beach is amazing, it is a mixture of white sand and black volcanic sand with palm trees and a miniscule river mouth. In the 10 years that I lived in Dominica, there are only 2 days that I can recall it being absolutely flat at this break. From the beach, the reef break on the outside appears much smaller than it actually is. If youre looking for a solid wave that you can count on as far as consistency and form, this is the spot. As far as sharks go, never spotted any in the entire time there.

Dominica - I had a friend going to Ross University so I went down for a Vist American Airlines took two days to fly my board in. I guess I went down during the Busy season. so I got to Surf and Dive ever day for two weeks but when I went to leave even thought I was under the 70lbs weight limit they wouldn't take my board so I ended up shipping it home. In those 2 weeks I never once say another surfer but I did find some pretty cool spots. I would say in all there are only about 5 spots to surf on the hole island(I know I looked). I have been trying to add spots for 2 years and Wannasurf has yet to put up any of the info I have on the island.

edit - AA would not take my board.

Wrong! - Every pic on this page is from the Dominican Republic not Dominica. Been to Dominica and I loved it even though AA would take my board.
Surf is consistent but windy I plan to go back and search.
