help kooky - Hi...I'm a Europhile Frenchman living in Iowa and want to learn to surf in Central America...maybe Mexico. What iz theez 'leash' you speak of? Do I attach it to my surfer-board? Where iz good beach to learn do you lovely Americans think? Maybe km64? Cerritos? San Pedrito? Can you help me? Also, should I wear a life-vest do you think as I am only learing? Thanks you.

This is Los Cerritos - Km 65 is the main road in.
Threatening violence at a sandy beginner break proves somebody's a kook and would likely get them ejected by locals. Any experienced surfer would know where the better breaks nearby are.
