Lots of Cabañas along the 2km long beach. There’s also a nudist beach. It's not too expensive to stay there.

yes, rips - I couldn't agree more ie the rips. Got sort of trapped for a while in a rip back in May '91 at Zipolite. Closest I've ever come to panic in the ocean. I thought Puerto Angel was a pretty cool litttle town though. The bus ride to/from Oaxaca is curvy rainforest roads. Many people puked on the bus, a chain reaction, caused by one child puking.

place to stay - Hey!I've been in Zipolite for surfing and I've found a really good place on the beach with rooms to rent, hammocks or a place for camping at a good rate. They have a restaurant too, very very good and they serve breakfast with real italian coffee!Higly recommended. It's on the left side of the main road (adoquin), colonia roca blanca, it's called TEPONAZTLI, ask for Cristina!
