- Private beach
Colorado is a consistent rivermouth/beach break. The waves are fast, hollow, and a lot of fun. Check out www.surfiguana.com(condo) or giantsfoot.com(surf camp) or look up Colorado Surf Shack on Facebook for more pictures/information.
Atmosphere
This is one of the most consistent and best surf spots in Nicaragua.
General
Super crowded now that the condos are built. 30 plus surfers in the water all day long every day but a world class wave. There are a lot of very nice, expensive houses to rent in hacienda Iguana and there is an affordable place to stay called Dale Dagger's surf shack, less than a five minute walk to Colorados break.

- Went in may, Colorados was pretty packed, still got plenty of waves but that was because those staying at Iguana were pretty average. If there are rippers at Iguana when you're there probably a different story. Fast, hollow, makeable, doens't hold a big swell, overrated, don't need a boat to get there. better less crowded waves in CA for sure.

get on a boat - This wave can be a bit fast for beginners, but provides consistent, fun surf throughout the peak season as well as some epic days when the sand fills in. The crowd usually isn't too bad and can be avoided to some degree with early morning sessions, but you probably wont surf an entire session by yourself during peak season.
To answer anonymous' question, one may want to choose to go with an all inclusive (including boat, beer, transport, everything) surf camp, based in nearby Playa Gigante instead of renting a condo because Colorado isn't always the best option in the area and car rental, groceries (the nearest store is an hour from Hacienda Iguana) add up fast. Colorados - Best Break in NIcaragua - I've surfed up and down the entire coast. This is the best wave by far. Why walk 2 miles or pay $$$ for a boat ride/surf camp when you can stay right on the break in the gated community of Hacienda Iguana? Check out playacoloradocondo.com for details.
