Las Pasas - A hidden treasure! - Dispite being a marathon to paddle out to the break, it sure pays off once you are there! It is an incredible bowl with a lip as thick as a VW. Catch it on the right day and you will never forget this spot. If the break is unsurfable (esplotao), keep going west on the beach for about 2-3 miles and you will find many spots that never break under normal conditions and considered "secret spots". Back in the late 70's - early 80's there used to be some farms full of nasty cows that harvest the best damn mushrooms from all the cow turds. We made our local ritual drink called "Tea de Campana" from these mushrooms. Warning - Don't drink Campana and drive or surf. Believe me, leave that for the party at night! Las Pasa produced some of the most memorable tube rides I can remember. The crystal clear water makes an illusion of being on inches of water over the reef. Relax - it's deep enough - and enjoy. If you are lucky enough to be close to Cerro Gordo - Las Pasas is a must!!!
