Even more about La Garde Guerin - For those looking for a good hair-raising thrill, there is a submerged rock reef about 200 metres to the left of Garde Guerin beach- La Dame Jouane referred to by 'SL' the other commentator in this string of messages. This spot goes off with a good swell, but becomes extremely dangerous, especially if anything less than high tide. It's deceiving because the wave will wall up at the last second when the swell rolls in from deep water, then you have about 1/100th of a second to be up and making a run for the shoulder. I caught four waves there, but gave up when the last bowl sucked out on dry rock. I made the wave, but would have been hurt if I hadn't! Is indeed fast, hollow, but extremely short. Forget the pros... kamikazes only!I personally wouldn't rank Garde Guerin as for beginners when the swell comes up... the place has a lot of rocks and packs a punch with a swell. Beginners should go over to Longchamp.

- The Garde Guerin is good when there is a nice swell, this is definitely not for beginners only.
