manta rota (jorge and guy's spot) - when there is an easterly wind or levante (as the portuguese call it) tavira is usually huge and v. crowded. If you head a couple of miles east from tavira island you will find manta rota. it will generally be around 50cm smaller but really clean. i have never surfed here with anyone else apart from my friend. plus you can have a peak to yourself. some advice: go to the end of the carpark because the sandbars are usually better here and the waves are slightly cleaner.also, there's no point in surfing here if its not an easterly cus it will be flat,normally.....

manta rota - it's rare but i've seen huge waves 2-2,5m in this beach at the summer. Hhen big swells come from SO,sso, S,sse ,E oe se you got Manta Rota working perfectly.
