usually mellow. nice long clean beach. a bit picturesque.
General
water tends to remain colder than other areas for some reason even in summer. picks up all swells and can get good peaks/barrels occasionally. holds crowds pretty well.

Board hire - Hi, thinking of coming over in May but was wondering if there are any places to hire boards around here? The airline is asking for 60 euros just to carry aa board! Thx

soooo mellow. - Surfed here for a whole summer, never got sick. Water's cold so you get a windswell often, picks up a lotta swell. Go somewhere else for high tide or when it's really big. Great at 6-8 ft and low tide. There's a left and a right by the rocks on the south side of the beach (left of the access) and a better right further north near the end of the board walk. Sand bars shift a lot during big swells. Really great atmosphere, locals call it Afife, and its the first access road marked as such coming north from Viana do Castelo, just past the BP gas station. There's surf grafitti on the bus stop. Stop by in the summer and keep it mellow.
