Odeceixe - Does anyone know if this little old town gets going much in the summer, is there a buzz about in the evenings. Looking to buy a place there right now to rennovate but only visited once in November when it was quite, the beach was blown out, didn't have my board and had stomach flu. For some reason still thought it had potential! Looks promising from photos online and the reviews, thanks to whoever put those on :-)

Better than first described - by Guy - Dear Cuze, I won't argue if this beautiful beach is Algarve or Alentejo. However, my first comment about it being overrated is wrong. I surfed here again three times in early and mid August 2006. The first time on 3-4 foot faces, clean no wind worthy of 1-2 stars. The second surf was on 8-10 foot faces with only 5 other very friendly locals and Spanish visiting surfers. Every beach has its day and this was the best that I have caught Odeceixe - definitely 3-31/2 stars with good heavy steep grinding waves. Even the rip in the middle of the bay was working so the paddle out was simple. Can't wait to revisit in November - SW Portugal is a great place.

Love this spot! - Odexeice is an amazing spot. Both for beginners and experienced. I have now been there every winter and summer for the past 10 years, and I can't get enough of it. Not only the beach is nice and beautiful, but the small city of Odexiece is nice too. Although many germans comes every year -.-
The best time of waves is in end of June-August, but the crowdest time of the year is in August. You can simply not get a parking slot or a slot down the beach. The surf school is EPIC! That's the surf school who taught me to surf. If the waves are bad at Odexeice, the surf school takes you and the team to Arifana or another beach with great waves that day. I simply can't wait to come back ;)
