Main peak is an A-Frame in front of La Mare lighthouse, but you can get punchy little peaks all they way down to Brocken's house on the right day. Lefts and rights come off the jetty, and the bit in front of the Whites' place to the north works earlier in the tide. Benny doesn't wear boots, and the Letherbarrows don't use shampoo or conditioner. Dan Arthur is undisputed head local. Ross allan is a ginger kook. jamie who? Fineprice was way better than waitrose or marks & sparks or whatever that new joint is. The floor in fine price was red and had bits of glitter in it. RIP fine price.
Atmosphere
Pretty chilled SoCal kinda vibe, with the local boys sporting a bailiwick twist on the whole santa cruz scene. i.e. tarts galore, short fat wide boards, batman tails, and bucks out to the flats on every wave. aaron white doesn't grab on airs, and if he sticks a full rotaysh its cos it just happened. he's like clay.
the local crew have burned a lot of political capital to keep the peace with the local goby fishermen, and the bloodshed of the late 90's should remain in the annals of history if everyone can just be cool. if an old guy with a beard offers you a suckle on his pipe just do it man, you're not gonna die from a couple of puffs. surf or die. la mare wolf pack

townie surfers - this spot can be pretty sweet when st ouens and brelade are blown out. I had a blinding session down there last january when it was head high steep trying to get hollow. some waves dump on the steeper parts of the beach when the tide is big (which it needs to be) but you will be more concerned about the amount of idiot kids who drop in on each other thinking its fun, fine if they hit each other but when they start interfering wiht you waves is annoying. They have idea about wave right of way because they are all young fools who cant drive down to st ouen after school in the evenings to surf. beware of townie surfers...they are the worst.
