janimal - quite right, which is why i often ask myself why i bother to surf in this country at all.

poinless arguments - who fucking cares whats the right way to measure a wave, measuring from the back seems to me to try and be macho, i can't name a single person who rides the backs of waves so why bother arguing.i've been to many destinations and there always seems to be this argument all over the world its pointless who cares, if you can surf the size your talking about then just enjoy it.i use the size system of body height eg headhigh as im always talking about face height, other wise it would be flat most the time as waves in this country don't really have a back to them until it starts topping headhigh at the face. so when people asked how big it was on a shoulder high face you'd say flat to knee high, people will say why bother surfing that.
