- On a 0-1ft or 1ft clean day it's a good spot for people looking to pop up to their feet as long as you aren't looking for anything longer than 5yard rides in the soup. Other than that it gets good (waist to shoulderhigh and cleanish) about 3 days a season in my experience. Strong to galeforce S or SW winds totally ruin this spot - it's just whitewash everywhere. I got it amazing last november shoulderhigh
A-frames peeling perfectly both ways and a paddleout through flat calm water that took about 20seconds, but this is very very rare. The beach is huge so crowds will never be a problem. Enjoy.

shot in the backside - Following an amazing session at highcliffe I found myself the victim of some brutal localism. I foolishly dropped in on a huge set wave and caused the abrupt end to somebody's 30 second barrel. I realised i had made a serious mistake and was definatley not ready to tackle the unforgiving highcliffe line up and conditions. I exited the water straight after afore mentioned incident but it was too late. I was hurridley getting changed in the car park when i was shot in rear with an air rifle by an irate local. I can completely understand this mans actions and do not condem them in any way shape or form. It was my own naivety and inexperience that led to such a horrific chain of events.
In summary if you are going to try and surf Highcliffe then you must be ready.
It takes years of preparation , training , practice and hard work to be able to tackle waves of this magnitude effectively. From now on I'm going to leave it to the big boys x
