Great in the winter!!! Empty lineup, killer drops and barrels. The rights stand up on a North West swell, and on one of those rare off shore days, you WILL have one of the best waves in So Cal to ride. Just north of El Porto - you do have to worry about sewage....
Atmosphere
During the weekend you may have local problems (funny how weekend twinkies call themselves local). If you are good, you wont have any problems. Overall good vibe.

Oil Peir - I surfed this area back in the late 70's early 80's. We wore black wetsuits and rode white boards. Never realy had a problem with the locals but, I guess I was a local.
The biggest wave I ever rode was at Grand St., Me and a buddy paddled out in 15 foot surf, we were the only ones out. I caught one 15-18 foot wave on my 5'-11" wing rounded pin(probably a single fin). Met my buddy on the beach, his board had snaped in half. It was a great day, one I will always remember.

oh really - bro...who are you?? what you been surfing the spot for like 3 years or so? its been called hammies before you were born, so dont give your 5 cents on how you think its name should change..."southside", sounds like some ghetto term you grommet!...you probably surf here in the summer
