 Additional Information

A very good wave to introduce some people to surfing. It is basically flat during the winter, but during the summer it is very consistent. Doheny consists of four takeoff spots: Boneyard, Seconds, Rivermouth, and Indicator. Boneyard is a fun right and left wave during high tide. You can get some really long rides here. Always wear booties here though, because the rocks are super sharp, and there are urchins. 2nds is a fun wave on low tide. It is usually a right, but there are occasionally fast lefts that come in. Rivermouth is a wave that breaks in front of the creek. It is a long right, but stingrays are a problem here. I have stepped on a couple here. Rivermouth is usually dominated by stand-up paddlers. Indicator is my favorite takeoff spot. It is an outer reef about half a mile out that breaks on bigger south swells on low tide. On bigger swells it barrels like crazy and the rocks are only 2-3 feet deep here. When the wave hits the reef, you see like 10 boils pop up on the face. This is a very hollow, dangerous wave, so don't take ur beginners out to indicator. This beach is mainly meant for longboarding, but on a big day, you might use a fish.

Atmosphere

a fun wave to longboard...no shortboarding here really, only on a big day you might use a thick fish...doho is very underated and is fairly consistent, and you could get some of the longest rides of your life... However it is basically flat during the winter.
