- Rocks
This place gets swell year round, but is characterized as a winter time spot, while Lowers is the summer time spot of Trestles. The wave at Uppers is super fun and since there are a few peaks the crowd spreads out better than at Lowers. Overall, not as good as Lowers, but still far better than most spots in the area.
Atmosphere
I like Uppers because you still get the Trestles experience and quality, but you will have a more mellow crowd and see more waves. Also, you save yourself the longer walk to Lowers, which feels great after a long session!

The real uppers report - Longboards are not allowed at Uppers. Stay at San-O and Churches. Uppers goes off! Look out for grumpy old men and that think they rip. If you want to surf uppers, get ready for a shit fight. Every so often urchins will show up here and some big patches of monster sized mussels that are sharp. On a summer time weekend, expect 60 plus guys out. Yes Uppers is epic and you can clink the lip so hard that your back breaks. That's why the crowds are spazing out trying ther best wiggles.

uppers forever - I've surfed uppers on and off for many years. It was a project even when I lived in South County. Still, I'll never forget a perfect, sunny week-day in mid-winter in 2005, about 9am, light offshore, the water quite cold, perfect 3' lines working the inner point. There were three of us out, and we surfed until we couldn't lift our arms anymore. The memory of that day will stay long after bigger days and hormone-poisoned crowds have faded.
Uppers is a lovely break, although Churches has an easier crowd and a wave almost as good in the right conditions.
Trestles best on a week-day, fewer people, and those who are out there tend to be a bit more laid back...although, I, like others, have noticed that the worst idiots tend to be guys over 40 with something to prove. Me? I'm over 50. Nothing left to prove.
