Decent wave... - I have lived in Cardiff for a few years now and I have mixed feelings about 85's. I have stayed respectful and aware of my piers in the water and therefor never had an incident with "locals". If you are looking for a place to surf where it is acceptable to paddle underneath the pack and take a wave without waiting your turn, this isn't the place for you. There are some bad apples out there, with bouts of arguing, yelling and even racism in the water (pretty lame R.). Comparatively, the localism here isn't nearly as bad as places like New Break, Mission Jetty and Windansea, but if you aren't respectful... expect a deserved earful. Generally this is a good wave but don't surf here expecting to be coddled or embraced for showing up. Practice restraint, moderation and respect.

crowded always - just dropping some truth here: theres already 10 guys in the water on an average weekday when its just gotten bright enough to see at like 6am. its another 1 of those spots i used to surf alone occasionally in the 90s. it really got trendy.
