Beacons is a good outside break with a nice north reef too. It's hardly ever crowded. Always take of from the outside, and beware of the dumping shorebreak at North Reef.
Atmosphere
Relatively good, not too many local problems, but the South Reef has a few loggers who like to snake you.
General
I learned to surf here, and I still surf here. It's been 7 years. Even on a crowded day there are waves to be had. North peak and south peak fill up, but the in between section works on swing wide sets. This wave is very versatile. Bring your longboard, fish, or short board and you will be stoked. On big days stay away unless you want to paddle.

Beacons - Surfed here a couple times when my friends would take me. Never really got it good. I was more of a Encinitas/Cardiff guy. D street/Moonlight was my small wave bread and butter. But the leucadia boys swore by this place (Beacons), I just never saw it. Love to eat at Juanitas and shop at Lou's Records.

Wannabee~Swarmibee's - It's real name was Weak~one's due to the lack of power in the lineups here. Eventually all the newcomer wannabee~swarmibees named it after their King. I am that King. I do my yoga~stretchmarks on the bluff too.

Great for Kooks - I am a kook and I'm proud of it! I've only been surfing for a year and this is where I go 90% of the time. Yes, I'm 40, yes I longboard and yes I suck but at least I'm out year round. I love the vibe here, there is no local BS from what I can tell. There is plenty of room for everyone. It's like a poor man's Swamis.
