Experienced Surfers ONLY! A-Frames is a cool left or right when it decides to work! It's a fickle big-wave break and can hold size up to about triple-o.
This wave is located in the MIDDLE of Spooners Cove and breaks towards the inside of the cove.
Drive into Montana De Oro and stop once you get the Ranger Station and main campgrounds entrance. Pull over onto the grass parking at the top of the cliff that overlooks Spooners Cove and the beach.
All the locals park at the top. DO NOT park at the beach parking lot. You will be immediately pointed out as an outsider and an idiot.
The view from the parking area is awesome. You are able to see three surf spots from here. You can view Lonesomes off the North Point, A-Frames in the middle (but way outside) of the cove, and Spooners breaking off the South Point of the Cove.

Additional Information
It's more of a Novelty Wave.
This wave works on low-tide and shuts down due to increase in depth.
It takes a big-swell and clean winds to groom this wave into something rideable.
Most people go right, but you can go left as well. It's mostly a big-drop and that's it. It tales off fast unless the swell is overly gigantic, then there is a slightly longer shoulder going right and breaks towards the oncoming shoulder of Spooners (the Left).
On messy combined swells from NW and West that are huge (18'+@20sec) A-frames can combine with Spooners to become one hell of a nasty closeout. On these days it's fun to just watch.

Atmosphere
A-frames is a perfect wave for practicing Tow-In's. There is lots of room to maneuver a ski and we have towed into here before. It's great for practicing big drops, but that's about it.
Be careful towing and only tow if nobody is out.
Launch your ski at Morro Harbor, jam out of the the mouth and travel south until you reach Spooners Cove.
There isn't a large consequence of wiping out here besides 12 tons of water on your head. The wave quickly disapates into the deep cove and regains it's form when it gets near the beach where it becomes a fat shore-slapper.
It rarely breaks and even more rarily surfed. When it is breaking, most everyone opts for the Big Left on the South side of the Cove (Spooners) or the Big Rights on the North side of the Cove (Lonesomes).
