Turtle needs a bigger swell to break than the surrounding breaks in the area. When it does break it is often the best wave in the area. Can hold bigger waves with ease. Tends to have a strong longshore current. This is also the most powerful spot in the area.
Atmosphere
Hardly ever crowded. There are sharks in the area, but no attacks at this spot for a long time... if ever.

I remember Elena - I was like 7 years old and Elena came up in the gulf. Anna Maria Island was going off!!!! We bodysurfed it for hours. That experience pretty much got me hooked on waves.

east coaster - i came to this place by chance and it fired during Wilma..honest to god head high,aqua-green barrels.it closed out occasionally but what the fuck,it's Sarasota.Locals say it's only been doing it's thing for like a month, about how often they get decent waves here..A good spot to know for next hurricane season though.
