It's faster than your typical Galveston break. The current is a little bit gnarlier, but it's all worth it if you want a fast fun walled up break for a semi close drive.
Atmosphere
The spot is never gonna be crowded because it's so spread out. You just find a spot you like and go out. It's really good on a 3-5 foot day. Really fast. If you want a good wave you might as well drive to Gorda, but if you don't want to drive that far check out Jamaica.
General
This spot is sick when you got the right conditions. If it's an East swell it probably will be ridable, but the current is gonna be really gnarly.

- I grew up surfing Texas beach breaks from Galveston to SPI and it is a true rarity to engage in a tube session out there. Hurricane swell is serious and you will get tubed if you got the cajones to paddle out, but you don't see many cats out there then, thats when all the poon tangs go back up to the north side of Houston.
Locals are cool here so don't be scary of that mess and there are 95% more long board or round nose fish days than anything else, but when the Hurricane season hits, I would rather be surfing there sometimes than anywhere else in the world.
