- Localism
During the summer months you will have to pay to park () between 7am - 6pm(?) unless you have a town of Babylon recreational permit ().
Atmosphere
longboard atmosphere, smaller and cleaner than other beaches especially on an east swell. It goes off on bigger days and is perfect for the fish or shortie
General
kook land, why else would i post it. some good surfing still exists at this crowded spot

hi - this is a beginner spot. even when the waves are good on LI, gilgo is still a slow wave with no vertical wave face. great for beginners and town of babylon kooks. plenty of guys out there on longboards and fish shapes that are just looking for an excuse to take their shirt off and will snake you just to go straight and not make the section.

Hi guys ! - Hello, my name is Bobby. I will be visiting your break this weekend. I was wondering if my 10' Bic with green flames would be suitable. I am also looking to hook up with surf twinkies ... please email me

Gilgo - Gilgo is all about great vibes(there is basically no localism) in the summer it can get crowded but honestly there are so many different peaks and sandbars in the span of a half a mile radius that it really does not matter. gilgo is great for some summer slop with a longboard/fish and just hanging out on the beach with your buddies. In the winter its not really that crowded (and there wont be kooks) and it can get good and hollow at times... gilgo is just an average break it does close out and the currents can be pretty bad... but its still fun when you just want to have a chill relaxing session and some fun waist to chest high waves. Gilgo is the ideal beach to bring your family chill out and do some longboarding in the summer and grab a drink at the inn.. there are better spots and there are worst spots but if u dont feel like dealing with bad crowds (and you want something more spread out) and you can compromise getting some lesser quality waves (as compared to Turtles or demo )then its fine. Gilgo is pretty good on a S/SE swells but what you really want is light winds... gilgo can have the worst rip ever if the winds screw it up it will be impossible to stay on a peak and you will be drifting like crazy and your session will be shit. but other than that its ok and the scene is pretty cool too.
