Additional Information
This spot is pretty serious and there is no parking at the private beach. There are a few heavy locals here that don't look favorably upon visitors. So be courteous and pay respect to the heavies and maybe you'll go home with a smile on your face from catching an elusive monster at Clam alley. The bottom here unlike other shorebreaks in the region has a flat stone and sandy surface allowing for the creation of a sick reef-like formation that consistently breaks in the same spot....making for some tenuous moments for who takes off the deepest. You'rre best bet is a boat to get here because there is no parking for miles unless you know Stevo...a very heavy local when his knee or wrist isn't bothering him. You are better off watching the locals drop in near the ledge so you can understand the spot before you take off. If you paddle out and miss the wave or prevent a heavy from dropping in, that may be the last chance of a wave.

Atmosphere
THE ATMOSPHERE IS really good...watch getting on the beach...the homeowners may yell at you. Some great surfing history abounds at this location..Z's backdoor style cover up in the hurricane of 91' can be seen gracing the walls at several local restaurants....awesome!!!Flex Healy's very memorable session in 87' still has the locals wondering if we will ever see another performance that can only be described as sheer genius in 8-10' ledging clam alley righthaders...Sunny Garcia, friend of the author, described this wave as a mix between backdoor pipe and a heaving west side spot on the island of Oahu that he would rather let go unnamed after a recent visit during the wave soaked month of this past July.

it does exist - my first winter trip of the season was last weekend. using these directions i was able to find this place. its unlike anything ive ever seen. a rock, not sand bottom, makes for a strange type of break.
