It should be working pretty well on any north swell...I have never been skunked on a north
Atmosphere
If there is a good swell in the late summer or early fall there could be up to 30 people in the water surfing...the vibe is always fun and everybody is stoked. People from all over southern half of michigan and a hand full of people from chicago will show up on a good day...
General
Its a pretty popular spot for lake Michigan and is always a fun safe place to go play in the waves. all though it is not all that consistant it is easy to know when to surf it... I love this spot for the novelty of surfing lake Michigan and there are always fun people there to surf with.

Been skunked - I've been there 2 or 3 times on a north forecast, albeit a minnimal one. Never enough to entice a guy to get in the water, though.New Buf is a beautiful little town, along with the rest of the towns up the Michigan coast. That's worth the trip alone.

I smell a skunk! - I've been here on a few strong north to NE winds and the place just wasn't worth the drive. Just like most Lk. Mi breaks, best to save your days off and $ and take a trip to the ocean. Big smiles.
