This is essentially a family friendly location. Since the surf is generally smaller than in other spots to the south it tends to be less crowded. An excellent place to begin learning how to surf or just to get away from the crowd. Furthermore, there's several public beach access streets to choose from beginning with Washington Avenue and ending with Arthur Avenue (I believe 21 in all.)

This is a great place to go to with your kids, especially when they are learning to surf. It keeps them out of those areas where there's less tolerance for novices.
